What You Absolutely Need To Know About Wine
Tuesday, June 27

Class begins at 7 PM
$53
This class was previously named Absolute Beginning Wine Appreciation, but that title limited the participants to people who knew that didn't know the basics of wine. Truth be told, there is a lot of fundamental information about wine that most people have just skipped over in order to get to the drinking part! So whether an absolute beginner or hardened vet, this class will teach you something you didn't know or at least were not sure of in the complex, wonderful world of wine.

While based on the information offered in Absolute Beginners, this is a newly structured Power Point type of class presented along with nine great wines to illustrate the information. The most heard comments after this class are usually along the lines of "I've been drinking wine for 15 years, going tasting in Santa Barbara and Napa, etc, and I learned more about wine in the first 20 minutes of this class than I did in all that time!"

Join Wine House Tasting & Seminars Director JB Severin for an entertaining revelation.

Tequila (And More) Fest With Taco Bar
Sunday, July 9

1 PM to 3:00 PM
$50
This year’s rendition of our annual celebration features over 50 different tequilas, mezcals, raicillas and sotols! Do you prefer the spicy pepperiness of a pure agave blanco from Jalisco or the sweet richness of an over age super-anejo? Maybe you like the exotic smokiness of a single village mescal from the mountains of Oaxaca? Have you tried raicilla or sotol? Taste the whole range and leave knowing in which way you are moved by the Spirit of Mexico! While the event is primarily focused on tasting the spirits neat, there will also be a few craft cocktails to explore.

We welcome several special guests, including award-winning bartender and master mixologist Dushan Zaric, who will be pouring Tequila Cabeza Blanco, and using it in a cocktail, as well as a real Mexican luchador signing autographs and taking pictures!
Plus, back by popular demand, will be the amazing Tacos El Mexicano to provide their delectable taco experience!

Note: There will be discounts on all brands poured at the event on the day.

The Wines of Alto Adige & Friuli
The Fifth of a Six-Part Educational Series on Italy's Most Important Regions
Monday, July 10

Class begins at 7 PM
$40
The Wine House is delighted to partner with Dalla Terra (Italian Winery Direct Importer) to present a six-part educational series covering Italy’s most important wine regions – including well-known favorites as well as the most exciting up-and-coming areas. The course will take place once a month on the 2nd Monday of the month. Participants will journey across Italy learning about historical events and outside influences, appellation breakdowns, native grape varieties, while tasting wines specific to the regions.

Italy is one of the most interesting countries for wine, but Italy can be intimidating, as it is vast, regionally specific, with tremendous diversity! This series gives you the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of each region in particular, and the entire country as a whole. This series is led by Diego Meraviglia, Vice President & Director Of Education of North American Sommelier Association, who was born and raised in Northern Piedmont. Diego’s passion, educational technique and experience gives you a whole new perspective on one of the most beloved wine countries. You will leave this course excited and inspired to learn and taste more!

This month, in the fifth class of the series, we journey to the Alto Adige & Friuli regions.

Course Schedule (remaining classes):
July 10: Alto Adige & Friuli
September 11: Tuscany

Each class is a stand-alone class so if you have missed previous parts of the series, it will not affect your enjoyment of THIS class.

It is ideal for consumers or those new to wine, and focuses on the main styles of wines available, tasting technique, wine and food pairing as well as wine service and storage. The class consists of a session of 6 hours that concludes with a short 30-question multiple-choice exam of 45 minutes. Successful candidates receive the internationally-recognized WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines.

WSET Level 1 Foundation is strongly recommended for those who have little training in or knowledge of wine. Those who already have a good foundation of wine knowledge may begin with WSET Level 2 Intermediate course.
