STOLPMAN IS BACK WITH ‘ANOTHER OUTSTANDING EFFORT FROM SASHI MOORMAN’ AND 95 POINTS!

“We have been carrying Stolpman Vineyards wines since the beginning and every year the team seems to step it up a notch! These wines are no different with 95 points for the 2014 Stolpman “Originals” Syrah and 93 Points for the 2014 Stolpman Vineyards Estate Syrah. We’ve been sold out on the Estate Syrah since we last had it in last December, and I have no doubt we’ll sell out again soon! These wines are just too good to keep in stock. So don’t miss out on this second drop, including the newest release of the 2016 Para Maria Rose! Buy to open up with friends today or cellar the Syrah to enjoy in years to come.” –Glen Knight, The Wine House

“Very savory aromas of roasted lamb, bacon fat, teriyaki and crushed pepper meet with light blueberry and a touch of mint on the nose of this delicious, well-rounded bottling by winemaker Sashi Moorman from the vineyard's oldest blocks. The palate kicks off with a zesty acidity, then come waves of black pepper-crusted beef roast, oregano, bay leaf, dark plum fruit and lavender. The solid structure ensures cellar potential but it's ready to drink today.” –Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast, March 2017

“The 2014 Syrah Originals Estate is another outstanding effort from winemaker Sashi Moorman. Made in a ripe, textured and hedonistic style, it has beautiful purity in its blueberry, blackberry, salty mineral and creamy licorice aromas and flavors. Fermented with 65% whole clusters and aged 15 months in neutral French oak, it’s upfront and ready to go, but will keep nicely for 4-6 years.” –Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, August 2016

“Dark aromas of black currant and black olive meet with charred beef and supple herbs of dill and anise on this wine's excellent nose. The sip is very full and hefty in body, allied with a juicy acidity and fruity character of concentrated blackberry that's imminently appealing. More elegant touches of lavender, rosemary and incense round out the palate.” –Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast, March 2017

The 2014 Syrah Estate is surprisingly succulent for a young Stolpman Syrah, which Peter Stolpman attributes to warmer nights and softer extractions. Dark cherry, plum, mocha and dark spices are fused together in a deep, yet mid-weight, highly expressive Ballard Canyon Syrah. The whole clusters are felt but also very nicely balanced. If this is the future direction for Stolpman, all I can say is the winery has made huge strides in recent years.

2016 Para Maria by Stolpman Rose Ballard Canyon
$16.99
Tasting Notes From the Winery: Extremely bright and refreshing, the pale salmon Rose comes off bone-dry and zesty. Para Maria shows light and pure, straight-forward and delicious, with just a flare of exotic lychee, star fruit, and jasmine. A lively tangerine peel spray softly feathers the palate though the finish.

About Stolpman Vineyards
Over 20 years ago, our Founding Partner, Thomas Stolpman, discovered what we believe to be one of the greatest viticultural sites on earth. Hidden in the hills of California’s Central Coast, on a rare Limestone outcropping & unobstructed from the Pacific Ocean wind, this unique land is ideally suited to grow Syrah and Roussanne grapes. We are committed to preserving this natural environment for our vines through natural farming, dry farming, & sustainable employment. In the winery, we prefer native fermentation & minimal manipulation. Dedicated to sensible farming & winemaking, we believe that we can create natural, vibrant, site-specific wines, with a focus unique to Ballard Canyon AVA, California.
