93 Points: "Brilliant violet color. An expressive bouquet evokes ripe, mineral-tinged red/blue fruits, incense and candied flowers. A suggestion of smoked meat emerges with air. Chewy, focused and appealingly sweet, offering juicy black raspberry and violet pastille flavors and a hint of licorice and spice cake. Finishes gently tannic with impressive tenacity, leaving an echo of smokiness behind. There's something northern Rhône-like going on here. (Raised in neutral French oak barrels.) 93 Points: "The old Brancellao (also known as Albarello in other parts of Galicia) bottling has been renamed and is now the 2015 Serradelo. It's a pale, fragrant and aromatic light red with an earthy, somewhat rustic touch reminiscent of leather and licorice and a core of wild red berries and herbs that make it quite complex and attractive. The palate shows some earthiness and a faint animal-like twist that I've also seen in other vintages. It has a strong personality, perhaps not for everybody." Another one of the cellars of the winery, ALGUEIRA SERRADELO, is made 100% with the native variety Brancellao, coming from plots with different orientations, it is fermented in stainless steel with short post-fermentation macerations and crianzas superior to 12 months in French oak barrels of 225 liters. Brancellao offers wines without a lot of layer and of an intense cherry color, with certain orange borders appropriate to aging. At first, the rusticity of the variety appears with a marked reduction that gives way to memories of ripe acid fruit (red plum) and balsamic (black tea, laurel), with a bottom of marc. In the first sip the acidity stands out, with a round mouth in the mouth, surprising with a final tannic punch that marks the strength and personality of the variety.
