The Wine House is thrilled to welcome Gioia Wurth of Salvatore Ferragamo’s “Il Borro” and Davide Visintin of the iconic Vino Noble estate of Avignonesi, for an in-store tasting of two Tuscan legends.

The Ferragamos, founders of the well-known luxury goods manufacturer (shoes, handbags, clothing), purchased the Il Borro estate in 1993 and they completely renovated the property. They replanted all the vineyards, painstakingly rebuilt an abandoned medieval village, and the property now includes elegant accommodations throughout the estate. While the Ferragamo name is nowhere to be seen on the bottles of Il Borro wines, the attention to detail and pursuit of excellence that the family is known for is unmistakable.

Avignonesi, named after one of the founding family members, was established in 1974, and quickly became the benchmark of Montepulciano, putting the Vino Nobile region on the map once again. Vino Nobile wines are among some of the best of the traditional Tuscan reds, a category that includes Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico. Montepulciano is a stunning hilltop town in southeastern Tuscany, with a wine history that runs back centuries and has been producing Nobile wines, for nobility (hence the name), far longer than Chianti or Montalcino.
