We continue to offer various levels of WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Award in Wines courses, as well as courses from the Wine Scholar Guild, including the new Certified Sherry Wine Specialist Class that is being offered in person for the first time in Los Angeles! Some courses have been adapted to use technology in the educational process for flexibility and to ensure student and instructor safety. Please see below for each course's details, as each course is structured differently, with differing levels of in-person and online instruction, tasting and exams. Proof of vaccination is required for all indoor sessions and we will follow state a local guidelines for masking.

As noted in Food & Wine, the Wine House was named one of ten of the "World’s Best Wine Shops." In addition to being described as a "wine geek’s dream destination" with modest markups and excellent small-production offerings, we were noted for having "an impressive lineup of classes." We have renovated our main event room upstairs above The Wine House and look forward to welcoming customers back for events and our Wine House Kitchen restaurant soon.

The Certified Sherry Wine Specialist (CSWS®) course is the most comprehensive ONLINE certification course on sherry wines. This is the first time this course is being offered IN PERSON in Los Angeles! It was created by The House of Lustau, with the support of the Regulatory Council of Jerez guaranteeing the CSWS® program’s exceptional level of depth, accuracy, detail, and academic rigor as well as its impact on the global wine industry.

The Certified Sherry Wine Specialist program includes:
Two in-person classes:
– Session 1:
Theory session, including instruction on the history of the sherry region, DO’s identity, viticulture, winemaking, aging, and diversity in the region
– Session 2: Tasting session, with six Lustau wines which illuminate the most classic styles of Sherry: Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso, and Pedro Ximénez. Students will learn about food pairings and the best ways to serve sherry.

Textbook: A digital textbook (the CSWS® manual) will be sent to students one week before the class begins for students who register at least a week prior to the start of the course. Later registrations will receive the digital textbook 48 hours before the course begins.

Exam: There will be a 50-question graded exam at the conclusion of the second session of the course. The award of “Certified Sherry Wine Specialist” will be granted to those with a minimum passing score of 75%. This Certificate of Achievement will be signed by both Lustau’s CEO and César Saldaña, President of the Regulatory Council of Jerez.

The Certified Sherry Wine Specialist CSWS® manual is available in digital format to make the learning process more comfortable and interactive. It has been designed in full color, rich in imagery, videos, and infographics. Each chapter is designed for maximum content retention and utilizes an interactive approach. The CSWS® manual consists of eight chapters:
– History of the Region
– Jerez – Xérèz – Sherry
– Viticulture
– Winemaking
– Urban Terroir
– Aging
– Sherry Diversity
– Enjoying Sherry Wines

CANCELLATIONS: The digital textbook will be delivered to students on Monday, September 19, 2022, one week before the course begins. Cancellations are only accepted for this class until September 19, 2022; there can be no refunds after the textbook is delivered.
