“We have recently featured several terrific South American wines and now we have the 97 point 2018 Chakana Ayni Malbec Paraje Altamira that earned a Platinum Award from Decanter. From high up in the Uco valley, this is old school natural wine, biodynamically grown, dry farmed, balanced, clean and delicious. It has a wonderfully spicy nose with deep red and violet notes and pure fruit expression. This is a wine that reminds me of visiting Argentina and the huge platters of meat that are offered up. Yes, grilled meat and a bottle of the Ayni may very well be on my menu this week. The wine is showing beautifully now, but you will be rewarded if you can tuck a few bottles away for later! ABOUT CHAKANA
Chakana Winery is located 3,149 feet above sea level at the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Agrelo, Mendoza. It is one of the leading projects among the new generation of winemakers dedicated to the discovery and expression of the Andean diversity of climate and soils. Chakana, who is certified biodynamic, owns 120 hectares of vineyards, spread across sites in Lujan de Cuyo and Valle de Uco.

ABOUT THE WINE
Ayni is the Quechua term for the principle of reciprocity, practiced for centuries by the Andean people - "in order to receive, you first have to give." Chakana's renowned Paraje Altamira vineyard, which sits 3,300 feet above sea level, bears the name Ayni & is the source of the Ayni wines.

Deep ruby-red in color with violet hints. Complex and intense bouquet, featuring blackberries, cherries and plums, with delicate floral notes and spices. Balanced and fresh; full-bodied with good length of spices.

Vinification: Manual harvest. 4 days maceration (cold soaking) in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation. Aged 12 months in 3000L and 5000L untoasted oak foudres. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. Unfiltered.

Soil: Type Sandy loam with calcareous gravels

- You will receive 2 emails. The first will acknowledge receipt of your order and the second will let you know that your order is ready for pickup.

2) Please reply to the second email to tell us you want curbside pickup. IMPORTANT: If you have multiple orders to consolidate, please let us know as we will need extra time to get those to the front of the store!
- We will prepare your order(s), move them to the front of the store and send you a confirmation email that curbside pickup is ready.

3) Pull up in front of the store. There is no need to call when you arrive at the store – just roll down your passenger window and let us know the name on the order(s).
- We will put your order(s) in your vehicle. There is no need to step out of your vehicle.
