In-Store Tasting With Pepe Raventós of Raventós I Blanc
Thursday, April 11, 2024

7:00 to 8:30 PM

$35
We are thrilled to welcome Pepe Raventós, twenty-first (!) generation proprietor of Raventós i Blanc, a winery that many believe to be one of the finest, if not the finest, producer of sparkling wine in Spain—and beyond. Pepe’s family has been farming the Penedès Valley for over five hundred years, and for over 150 of those years, Raventós-surnamed pioneers have been chief protagonists in developing the Penedès Valley into one of the world’s leading sparkling-wine regions. However, in 2012, he decided that Raventós i Blanc should leave the Cava DO and create their own appellation: Conca del Riu Anoia. Raventós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia wines are authentic, come from a single estate with a specific climate, use native grape varieties and are made with rigorous, precise and respectful winegrowing techniques. Pepe will also highlight wines from his sister property of Can Sumoi in the high mountains of the Catalan coast.

Wines to be poured:
2021 Raventós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia Blanc de Blancs Brut ($21.99)
2021 Raventós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia de Nit Brut Rosé ($24.99)
2020 Raventós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia de la Finca Brut ($38.99)
2019 Raventós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia Textures de Pedra Brut Blanc de Negres ($46.99)
2014 Raventós i Blanc Conca del Riu Anoia Manuel Raventós Negre Brut ($104.99)
2022 Can Sumoi Ancestral Montonega Pet Nat Penedès ($19.99)
2022 Can Sumoi Xarel-Lo Penedès ($19.99)
2023 Can Sumoi La Rosa Rosado Penedès ($19.99)
2022 Can Sumoi Sumoll Garnatxa Penedès ($21.99)

All wines will be available for purchase at a 10% discount after the event.

Cheese and charcuterie will be served.

The Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Wines course is intended as vocational training in product knowledge for those employed in the drinks industry but who have little previous knowledge of the broad range of alcoholic beverages available. The qualification is suitable wherever a good level of product knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competencies. The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines course is also appropriate for those not employed in the drinks industry but who want a serious education in wine, and wish to broaden their knowledge in a structured way. Wine tasting is a part of every class. The WSET recommends that students complete at least 14 hours of personal study outside the classroom hours during their course of study. The 4-week duration of this course allows students ample time to prepare for the exam.
