BUY A CASE AND SAVE OVER $135!

“Today we have a killer offer of Barolo Crus from Gianfranco Bovio – an incredible vertical of ‘library releases’ from the estate. Bovio is headed by Walter and Fabio Porasso, and the estate consistently produces classic wines from venerable vineyards in the village of La Morra in Piedmont. Bovio wines are exceptional in their precision and consistency in purity and longevity, just as you would expect from an established producer of Barolo Crus. We are pre-selling these wines before they arrive in store this Friday (4/28). The ONLY place in the US where you can buy these wines is The Wine House! The per bottle price for each library release wine is attractive, but the mixed case deal (4 of each vintage) is a STEAL – save $135 when you buy the mixed case! (Please see note below.) The mixed case is packaged in an elegant wooden box, which is pictured below. We have a limited supply, and at these prices, these specially-packaged library release wines will not last long!” – Jim Knight, The Wine House
2007 Gianfranco Bovio
‘Vigna Gattera’ Barolo
(Pre-sale – wine arrives Friday, 4/28)
Wine House: $59.99
Mixed Case Deal: $47
(see note below)

Importer’s Notes: The 2007 is the uncle who cooks the feast at Christmas. The wine has a cornucopia of scents, spice, rose petal and dried cherries. The flavors are simply delightful. True "soil-to-glass" Nebbiolo from Gattera.
2008 Gianfranco Bovio
‘Vigna Gattera’ Barolo
(Pre-sale – wine arrives Friday, 4/28)
Wine House: $59.99
Mixed Case Deal: $47
(see note below)

Importer’s Notes: The 2008 is the athletic uncle who played rugby and bass as a young man. He may not knock heads on the rugby pitch any more, but he can still "slap" a mean bass. The color speaks volumes, robust aromas, minerals laced with tar. Enjoy now or save for another ten winters.
2009 Gianfranco Bovio
‘Vigna Gattera’ Barolo
(Pre-sale – wine arrives Friday, 4/28)
Wine House: $54.99
Mixed Case Deal: $47
(see note below)

Importer’s Notes: The 2009 is the uncle who drives a convertible, picks you up for lunch and then introduces you to your future wife. The wine sings at table with a glorious rich color, morello cherry in the nose and finishes supremely well with tannins that give the vintage its ultimate finesse.
NOTE: for the Mixed Case Deal, which is 4 bottles of each vintage packaged together in a wooden case, we will manually adjust the price of the case in the order from $699.88 down to $564 ($47/bottle x 12 bottles), a savings of over $135 on the case!

FROM THE IMPORTER

The terroir of La Morra is known to give its Baroli a consistent medley of cherry fruit and the delicate scent of roses. Predominantly sandy soils, complemented by clay substrates and occasional stony manifestations contribute fine aromatics and fresh fruit approachable in their youth, relative to other zones of Barolo, and of course are given to long aging capability in the cellar. Bovio's Baroli please the traditionalist over the modernist, and tend to reward those who add these gems to their cellar. Beware those who conflate long "hangtimes" and heavy-handed applications of oak with high quality or high price. No indeed – at Gianfranco Bovio, they continue to keep it simple: by working closely with the land and harnessing site-specific terroir, they are able to capture a 'sense of place' and the unique character of the Nebbiolo variety, never obscuring the pure Nebbiolo fruit in layers of new wood, but rather showcasing the result of good farming and mindful winemaking.
