New Spanish Wine Essentials Course

Spanish Wine Essentials (SWE) is a NEW beginner-intermediate level course for the world of Spanish wine. This course is from the internationally acclaimed wine school, Wine Scholar Guild (home of the French Wine Scholar and Spanish Wine Scholar courses). SWE is designed to address the needs of the inquisitive wine enthusiast and aspiring wine professional alike. As a beginner-intermediate course, SWE is accessible, content-rich, and full of cultural highlights that are as engaging as they are entertaining.

Students will explore the culture, cuisine, history, viticulture and winemaking principles behind the key wine regions of Spain to fast-track their understanding of the exciting world of Spanish wine. SWE introduces 23 of the most influential Spanish wine regions. Each wine is presented within a regional and cultural context while landmarks and traditional cuisine are highlighted to complete the curriculum. SWE is a stepping-stone to the internationally acclaimed Spanish Wine Scholar, a professional certification advanced program on the wines of Spain.

Online access: Electronic access to course materials, including e-book, will begin on Sunday, May 12, 2024

Students who register before Wednesday May 1, 2024 can pick up their study manual at The Wine House one week before course begins. For registration on May 2, 2024 or later, the study manual will be available at the first class.

The comprehensive course structure includes a 95-page study manual, access to interactive e-learning and 3 evenings of in-person instruction with tutored wine tastings in every class. Students will sample 23 wines during the course and should expect to spend 25 hours to master the material (includes in-person instruction and independent study).

COURSE DETAILS
Study Manual: the beautifully designed 95-page coursebook, rich with photographs, infographics & maps, contains all the information students need to know. Students will also have access to the digital e-book.
Online Study Modules: Access high-quality interactive e-learning activities designed to enrich the study manual and support different learning styles.
Expert Instructor & In-Person Tutored Wine Tastings: This course is led by Spanish national, Monica Marin, our award-winning instructor and includes tutored wine tastings in each of the three evening classes. Students will sample over 20 wines.
Final Exam: The course includes a 50-question multiple-choice exam covering all of the essential topics of the course.
Certificate: Upon passing, receive your coveted Spanish Wine Essentials certificate. Add this reputed credential to your LinkedIn profile and résumé or CV.
There is free parking in the building during the course and all glassware will be provided.
