Come meet Daniele Cernilli, aka DoctorWine, highly acclaimed international wine critic on Italian wine, is the man behind this new wine Guide dedicated entirely to Italian wines. Daniele Cernilli was one of the founders of Gambero Rosso and for 24 years edited the Gambero Rosso – Slow Food and Wine Guide. During his long career, he has tasted, evaluated and classified about 150,000 wines and
invented the famous "Three Glasses" classification system. He then created the web magazine "DoctorWine" that rapidly became one of the landmarks of the wine world.
His new Guide Book, which you will receive at this wonderful event, is considered trustworthy because it is written by a great, historic name in wine criticism. Easy to understand, it gives guidance in the extremely broad panorama of Italian wines selecting those that most represent their winery (from the historic ones to the most interesting newcomers). Accurate and exhaustive without using abstruse terms known just to experts, "The Ultimate Guide to Italian Wine 2017" is an essential resource.
We are thrilled that Daniele Cernilli is coming to The Wine House with a small group of very well-known Italian wineries who represent a selection of his favorite wines. In the past 20 years there has been a renaissance of Italian wines. Italy, as a wine producing country, went through a great transformation in both viti and viniculture techniques. During this time, great wines now worldly acclaimed came into the market and made everyone look at Italy from another perspective. Join Daniele Cernilli, who wants everyone to enjoy and fully understand the extent of these changes, as you taste through some of the best examples of Italian wine today.
The price of admission includes a copy of DoctorWine’s Guide Book
(a $20 value)!

ABOUT EMIDIO PEPE
Emidio Pepe is a singular producer creating amazingly complex age worthy reds and whites in a region of mass produced, overly engineered versions of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Though the family has been producing wines here since the end of the 19th Century, the winemaking has remained unchanged philosophically since Emidio Pepe took over the estate in 1964. Since 1997, the business and wine production has been in the hands of the fourth generation of the
Pepe family with sisters, Daniela and Sofia. And, more recently, the dynamic Chiara De Iulis Pepe has joined the estate as the fifth generation!
This is a tasting event you do not want to miss!

Join hosts Richard Merenbach and Marla Foust on a journey of discovery as we explore the where and how of the world of whisk(e)y. that these aged distillates have to offer and see what they teach us about each region’s history and geography. Travel with us and decide if you prefer the soft kiss of an Irish Blend or the rough slap of a Highland Malt. And maybe we can even decide if the whisk(e)y you come to love should have an "e" or not!

The Wine House is delighted to partner with Dalla Terra (Italian Winery Direct Importer) to present a six-part educational series covering Italy’s most important wine regions – including well-known favorites as well as the most exciting up-and-coming areas. The course will take place once a month on the 2nd Monday of the month. Participants will journey across Italy learning about historical events and outside influences, appellation breakdowns, native grape varieties, while
tasting wines specific to the regions.
Italy is one of the most interesting countries for wine, but Italy can be intimidating, as it is vast, regionally specific, with tremendous diversity! This series gives you the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of each region in particular, and the entire country as a whole. This series is led by Diego Meraviglia, Vice President & Director Of Education of North American Sommelier Association, who was born and raised in Northern Piedmont. Diego’s passion, educational technique and
experience gives you a whole new perspective on one of the most beloved wine countries. You will leave this course excited and inspired to learn and taste more!
This month, in the sixth (and final) class of the series, we journey to the region of Tuscany.
Each class is a stand-alone class so if you have missed previous parts of the series, it will not
affect your enjoyment of THIS class.

What You Absolutely Need to Know About Wine
Monday, September 18
Class begins at 7:00 PM
This class was previously named Absolute Beginning Wine Appreciation, but that title limited the participants to people who knew that didn’t know the basics of wine. Truth be told, there is a lot of fundamental information about wine that most people have just
skipped over in order to get to the drinking part! So whether an absolute beginner or hardened vet, this class will teach you something you didn’t know or at least were not sure of in the complex, wonderful world of wine.
While based on the information offered in Absolute Beginners, this is a newly structured Power Point type of class presented along with nine great wines to illustrate the information. The most heard comments after this class are usually along the lines of "I’ve been drinking wine for 15 years, going tasting in Santa Barbara and Napa, etc., and I learned more about wine in the first 20 minutes of this class than I did in all that time!"
Join Tasting & Seminars Director JB Severin for an entertaining revelation.

Mark your calendars for Monday, September 25, as The Wine House welcomes Gianluca Putzolu, Commercial Director of Le Macchiole who will present several wines from the estate. Stay tuned for the wines to be poured!
Le Macchiole is known for its high-density, low-yield practices that have been described as “one bottle of wine per vine.” Situated in Tuscany's hotbed of famous estates, Le Macchiole's modest 25 acres produce some of the most consistently outstanding wine in Bolgheri. The extraordinary quality-focused dedication of the Campolmi family has shown outstanding results. Bottling fine wine since 1975, they gained momentum in 1984 when Bolgheri wines really began enjoying world-wide acclaim. Then in 1992, Le Macchiole's Paleo tied for first place with the coveted Sassicaia and Ornellaia in a comparative tasting of Tuscany's best,
establishing the estate's position on the Italian fine wine scene. When Paleo placed second to Chateau Pichon Lalande at VinItaly 1995, Le Macchiole earned its full stripes, breaking into the forefront of internationally recognized premium estates.
