LOVELY LIGHT AND REFRESHING LAMBRUSCO

“The wines of Gianfranco Paltrinieri are among the finest Lambruscos I have had the pleasure to drink, and today's Lambrusco di Sobara is even more special. Earlier this year we ran our first ever Lambrusco email, with another stunning wine from Paltrinieri, the Radice and we sold out within the day. Today’s Lambrusco is just as much fun, but a lot more sophisticated; this is among the finest Lambruscos ever produced.

Lambruscos come in multiple styles, colors and weights, so please stay open minded... and forget some of the inferior wines of the past. Plus, the 2017 Paltrinieri Lambrusco di Sorbara L’Eclisse is something so much more than just a run-of-the-mill Lambrusco. This lightly fizzy, dry wine is light in color and is the ultimate food wine. However, it also drinks brilliantly on its own. The color of this wine is so enticing, but it is the notes of rose petals and citrus that will have you coming back for more!

For a different experience this New Year's Eve, either for dinner or with snacks, ring in 2019 with a glass of something new and remarkable! Or make a resolution to widen your wine horizons with this delicious 94 point wine that's #20 on the Top 100 Wines of 2018 List for Wine Enthusiast!

Osteria Francescana, a three-Michelin-star restaurant based in Modena, and consistently rated the number one or two restaurant in the world, pours multiple Lambruscos because it is part of the culture and because they pair so wonderfully with the cuisine of the region.” – Lance Montalto, The Wine House

94 Points: “Made by the firm that helped put quality Lambrusco on the map, this delicious, stunning wine opens with enticing scents of wild berry, rose petal and citrus. The aromas carry over to the elegant, foaming palate along with juicy strawberry, creamy nectarine, grapefruit and a sprinkling of white pepper. A silky mousse gives it an irresistible texture, while fresh acidity keeps it balanced.” – Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast (December 2018)

Paltrinieri
An historic estate that dates back to 1926, Paltrinieri is in my opinion the best producer of Lambrusco di Sorbara today. The family-run property produces a mindboggling range of wines made from this grape, the one that gives the most refined of all Lambrusco-something wines. Paltrinieri farms 15 hectares (and two more they are about to plant.) The labels are especially beautiful, replicating art work by a local artist and family friend, Fabrizio Loschi. The Paltrinieri estate is worth a visit for the welcoming atmosphere, the pretty countryside and the great wines: depending on the time of year you visit, you will be delighted by the sight of a few nesting swallows in the winery building who the Paltrineiri’s tell me have made it their home for years now (the presence of swallows tells you that the habitat is clean since they tend to disappear from polluted areas).Ian D’Agata

What Is Pét-Nat Wine? ... Pétillant-naturel (natural sparkling) is a catch-all term for practically any sparkling wine made in the méthode ancestrale, meaning the wine is bottled before primary fermentation is finished, without the addition of secondary yeasts or sugars.
