"The 93 point 2016 Ritual Pinot Noir is a terrific Pinot Noir from the Casablanca Valley in Chile. It's a cool climate, organic wine and one of those gems I can’t believe we are able to sell for such a reasonable price - under $18! - great bang for the buck! It is an impressive Pinot with nice strawberry and cherry notes and a savory appeal, hints of clove and spice... simply delicious. Ritual crafts exceptional wines with beautiful aromas and flavors... and at this price, you can just open it any night of the week and enjoy." – Glen Knight, The Wine House

2016 Ritual Pinot Noir
Casablanca Valley

93 Points James Suckling
Release Price: $22
Wine House: $17.99
93 Points: "This is a high-toned and focused red with strawberry, lemon and cherry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, vivid fruit and a long and flavorful finish. Screw cap. Drink now or hold." – James (May 2017)

Tasting Notes: A medium-bodied Pinot Noir with remarkable floral, cherry and raspberry aromas. In the mouth, bright fruit flavors with a wonderful texture and extraordinary acidity. Smooth and balanced with a long, silky and velvety finish.

Winemakers Notes: The grapes are hand-picked in small batches at first light in the cool morning and carefully double-sorted. A portion of the fruit is whole-cluster fermented to obtain structure and complexity. Ritual Pinot Noir is fermented with wild yeasts to increase depth, intensity and complexity.

2016 Vintage: The season began with favorable conditions given by moderate temperatures that allowed for slow ripening of the grapes. The result were balanced wines with intense flavors, less sugar and lower alcohol.

The Appellation: Casablanca Valley
The Casablanca Valley is a cool climate area on the north western side of Chile’s coastal range less than 30 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. Our estate occupies the extreme eastern end of the valley and is noted for its gentle Pacific breezes and early morning fog, making it the ideal climate for producing cool climate varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Ritual Pinot Noir is a meticulous selection of specific vineyard lots and barrel selections from 20 hectares of Pinot Noir planted in the coolest sections of our Casablanca Valley Estate property vineyard estate.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir
Alcohol: 13.5%

Our estate is situated in the extreme eastern end of Chile’s Casablanca Valley, set against the dramatic sweeping beauty of the coastal range and heavily influenced by the cooling effects of the Pacific Ocean and Humbolt Current —ideal growing conditions for cool climate wines. Vineyards are surrounded by 6000 acres of native forest, creating a balanced, biodiverse landscape for healthy vines to thrive alongside natural wildlife corridors and native vegetation.

"We believe in letting the vines connect with their environment. Over time, this is the art of crafting exceptional wine." – Ritual Winemaker, Rodrigo Soto
