BIG BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL

"I would describe today’s wine, the 2015 Chalk Hill Estate Red, as an absolute knockout. Full bodied and loaded with blueberry, chocolate, vanilla and a little cedar wood at the end. Perhaps no other winery captures the beauty of Sonoma County better than Chalk Hill. The Chalk Hill AVA represents the best of both worlds of the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast excelling in Bordeaux blends as well as Chardonnay. Lisa Perrotti-Brown of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate gave this wine 94+ points and we have it for a great price of under $45 - over 35% off the winery price! If you love great California reds, you will not want to miss out on this one. Buy it by the case so that you can enjoy it over the next several years." – Glen Knight, The Wine House

"The 2015 Estate Red is deep garnet-purple colored and delivers a good amount of oak-inspired notions to begin over a core of blackcurrant cordial, blackberry pie, preserved plums and chocolate box with hints of vanilla pod and cigar box. Big, concentrated and full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with black fruit preserves, framed by ripe, firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a woody note. Forget it for 5-6 years and drink it over the next 20." – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (June 2018)

FROM THE WINERY

CHALK HILL ESTATE is a compendium of unique microclimates, exposures and soil types. We are fortunate to be able to make everything from aromatic Sauvignon Blanc to big, bold Syrah. Nowhere is this ideal situation more evident than in our Estate Red, which is just that – the best blend of the red wines made from the estate. Each variety is perfectly matched to the vineyard site. The blend will also vary from year to year, as the vineyard yields and fruit quality depend greatly on the weather during springtime bloom and set, and during harvest. This 2015 Estate Red is a unique blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Bold, deep and concentrated are just some of the ways to describe our 2015 Estate Red. It opens with intense aromas of blackberry, anise, lavender and dark chocolate. The palate offers more savory qualities like iron, tobacco and bay leaf while broad, supple tannins tie all of the flavors together. The finish is strikingly long and complemented by a slight toastiness from the oak influence. Appealing in its youth, this wine will also age beautifully over the
next 15 years.
